Q - I want a light meter to measure the variation in penetration of light through a woodland canopy. To do this usefully I need to measure the average light across 180 degrees. From what angle does the meter accept light?
A - The Light meter DT-1300 can accept light across a 180 degree angle if the environment temperature is between 0oC -50oC , humidity less than 80%RH and with light.

Q; Please could you confirm that the minimum reading it will give is 0.01 and that it can go up in steps of 0.01?
A; This meter doesn't go that low. Its lowest reading is 00.0. If you want a meter with a resolution of 0.01 you will need the CEM DT-1308.

Q; Is this item self calibrating, or do you need to calibrate it in a special way?
A; This meter has no end user calibration function so would conclude regular recalibration isn't needed.
