Loading... Please wait...The new Protimeter Surveymaster is easier to use and gives more information than its predecessor.
It incorporates two modes of operation, Search and Measure that enable the user to distinguish surface moisture from sub-surface moisture, essential information when trying to establish the extent and cause of a dampness problem.
Modes of operation:
Search Mode - Non-Invasive
The search mode is used to assess the moisture beneath the surface of solid walls and floors independently of surface conditions. The nominal depth of measurement is 3/4 in (19 mm) this depends on density and other characteristics of the material. When against the surface, as shown below, the instrument transmits a signal into the material. The relative level is shown on the digital display and its moisture condition is shown on the accompanying scale of color-coded lights. This measurement presentation the user to:
Applications:
Shower pans, behind ceramic tile, fine finishes, water stains, tile and vinyl floor coverings, around toilets, drywall, below grade floors and walls, plaster, masonry, concrete and concrete block
Measure Mode
This mode is used to measure the moisture level at the surface and at incremental depth, when used with the auxiliary deep wall probes. Measure mode readings are precise and specific to the immediate area of contact of the electrodes. The actual moisture content of wood is shown on the digital display with the corresponding moisture condition shown on the accompanying scale of color-coded lights. Wood Moisture Equivalent (WME) values are shown for other non-conductive, porous building materials.

Q - is it possible to identify from the resistance and capacitance readings if the damp is due to condensation or something else such as rising damp ?
A - The meter does not tell you whether the moisture content is due to rising damp or condensation.

Q - Is this meter suitable for checking caravans for leaks. As you probably know, all the walls/panel in a caravan are quite thin, but, a caravan can often be leaking for a while before it becomes visible to the eye.
A - This meter should be fine for what you need, the nominal depth of measurement is 3/4 in (19 mm) this depends on density and other characteristics of the material.
