  1. Can I test the pH of paint with it?

Posted by Alex on 30th Jul 2010

Q - Am I able to test the pH of paint with this pH meter?

A - The glass bulb probe on the meter is very fine and could be damaged if the solution is too dense, it would also be very difficult to clean the probe.
You would be better using a pH meter with a spear tip such as the Mettler Toledo FiveGo Food Kit.

  2. Testing Soil PH

Posted by Unknown on 21st Jul 2010

Q - Can this equipment be used for testing soil PH?

A - No, this meter is to test the pH values of liquids. If you click on pH meters, then click on "need help to decide?" You can then select to view all our pH meters for use with soil.

  3. Calibration

Posted by Clive on 6th May 2010

Q; I still dont understand the second stage of calibration. "Immerse the electrode in pH4.01 or pH9.18. After about one minute, until the buffer solution value corresponding to the measurement temperature is obtained" Do you just leave it in the solution for 1 minute and do nothing, do you have to adjust it again with the trimmer. If so, doesn't it throw the first reading out?. I'm at a real loss here.

A; You don't trim on the second stage, this is purely to give you a slope factor reading for probe integrity.

  4. Calibrating

Posted by Clive on 6th May 2010

Q; I dont understand the second stage of calibration. "Immerse the electrode in pH4.01 or pH9.18. After about one minute, until the buffer solution value corresponding to the measurement temperature is obtained" Could you please explain this. Thanks

A; Some units take 2 or 3 point calibration. This is to give you a slope factor percentage to determine probe accuracy.

  5. What is buffer Solution please?

Posted by Sue on 4th May 2010

Q:Can you tell me what the buffer solution is for and do I need to buy this for use with pH meter?

A: Buffer solution is used to calibrate the meter. You need to get the buffer solution nearest to the ph you are measuring.

  6. Test substance

Posted by Steve on 4th May 2010

Q:Would this be suitable for testing the PH of blood?
A: Yes it would be fine for that. Be sure to fully clean the meter after use. The cleaning solution and storage solution would be recomended.

  7. Can I test my cats urine with this?

Posted by Sue on 3rd May 2010

Q:Would this item be suitable for testing the pH of my cats urine please?

A: Yes, it would be fine for that

  8. Koi

Posted by Unknown on 28th Apr 2010

Q; is this ok for testing pond water for Koi?

A; This meter is ideal for testing water pH.

  9. Measurement range.

Posted by Unknown on 6th Sep 2009

Q: Is this ph meter ok for hydroponics.
I use a hydroponic system for growing, is this ok for ph range of around 6.9?
A: The meter has a measurment range of 0-14ph so this would suit your application.

  10. Suitable for brewing?

Posted by Unknown on 20th Aug 2009

Q - I need a pH tester for brewing cider - is this one suitable?

A - The meter would be suitable, it would need a thorough cleaning after every use.
