Q: The output options suit our needs perfectly, but what I really wanted to know was whether it is possible to use an external power supply as a replacement for the 9V battery?
A: This unit can only be powered using a 9V battery.

Q - Is it possible to use external power (through some adapter) for this device? We need a simple sound level meter (with DC output) to monitor sound levels over a very long period of time (months, years).
A - This meter has an output jack to supply AC signals and log converted DC signals to external equipment.
DC Output: Logarithmic Signal 10mV/db

Q - Does this unit have the ability to measure levels over a set time period 5, 10, 15mins etc?
A - This meter has not got the datalogging features, you would need to use either the CEM DT-8852 or the Tecpel DSL-331.

Q: Can this meter be used to take readings for sound levels of a machine for inclusion in a technical file? (as required for CE marking). Does it have any calibration certification?
A: For something as official as CE marking you may need a meter that complies with 'Noise at Work Regulations 1989'.
We do a professional range that complies with this regulation. The Castle GA216B would be ideal for your application.
