Q: Will the meter measure DC current passing through standard marine multi strand cable on a 12v circut ?
A: Yes, but only when clamping around a single core.

dc current clamp measurement

Q - What is the exact range of the dc current clamp?
It says 40A-400A.
I need a fuller range, 6A-20A fo r example.
Will this meter suffice?
A - You can select to measure within and upto the 40A range or 400A.
This meter will be fine, you would set it to the 40A range.

Q - If I use the 40 amp A.C. current range, what does the accuracy 2.5% + 5 mean? I need to measure currents up to 10 amps and overall 5% would be adequate.
A - Accuracy: +/- (a% reading + b digits), guarantee for one year.
Operating temperature : 23 deg C +/- 5 degC.
Relative humidity : < 85% RH
Temperature coefficient: 0.1 x ( specified accuracyh) / 1 deg C.
For example, 40.0 A willl show between 39.99 and 38.95.
As 2.5% = 40 x 2.5% = 1.00A and max. display is 3999.

Q; Will this current clamp meter work on a motor vehicle measuring DC voltage current?
A; As stated in the specification this meter will do DC Current. Please note! the Clamp will only take readings through a single core.
